Victoria’s debonnaire trad jazz crooner, guitarist and banjo man (who learned the tricks of the trade from Borgy Borgerson) returns with splendid sidemen: accomplished clarinetist Tom Ackerman and former Glen Miller Orchestra bassist Joey Smith. A recital by this accomplished UBC School of Music faculty member and respected Vancouver soloist and chamber musician who has performed throughout Canada, the United States and Germany.
The programme will include works by Mozart, Crumb, Debussy and Schumann.

The Goolden Trio

The Goolden Trio features three brilliant performers who are all faculty members of the Victoria Conservatory of Music: violinist Muge Buyukcelen, cellist Laura Backstrom and pianist Robert Holliston. Their programme will include Brahms and Beethoven.

Bijoux Du Bayou

Only two more days until Mardi Gras! Come and celebrate with this fun-filled, cookin’ Vancouver Island band that plays all your Zydeco and Cajun favorites as well as originals in that funky New Orleans style. (In our gallery, Bijoux will perform their totally acoustic show, but you’ll still be clapping your hands and stomping your feet…)

An encore solo recital by this esteemed performer, recording artist and instructor at the University of Victoria as well as the Victoria Conservatory of Music.  Mozart, Haydn, Liszt and Chopin are the composers to be represented in this programme.

The Emily Braden Quintet

Scintillating young Victoria vocalist Emily Braden wowed the audience at her noontime duo concert in the 2007 Harvest of Music. We are pleased to bring her back (by popular demand) for a more extensive concert with a great quintet.

Solo Double Bassist Daniel Nix with Pianist Matthew Poon

We have responded to the tumultuous demand for another concert by inviting Daniel back in our busy winter season so that as many people as possible can hear this incredible young musician who has been rightly recognized as “a true rising star of the double bass”. Daniel is the only private pupil and protégé of the world-famous soloist, Gary Karr.  Under the tutelage of this mentor, Daniel studies, arranges, and performs a wide range of solo repertoire.  He has appeared as orchestral soloist and recitalist both in the United States and Canada, including a recent feature concert at Carnegie Hall.
