Life Drawing begins September 4th every Wednesday and Friday.

Wednesday from 4:30 to 6:30pm

Warm up gestures followed by either one long pose or two 50 minute poses

Fridays from 10am to 1pm

Warm up gesture followed by poses ranging from 5 minutes to 1/2 hour

To sign up please purchase a punch card at TOSH or drop in the day of:

Working with a variety of mark making materials, create intuitive, abstracted and personally-themed artwork. Taking images and concepts as an idea and making new discoveries in the process of art making.

Students can work with any variety of sizes shapes of substrate i.e. canvas, hardboard, watercolor paper, wooden crates. Materials will be varied and can range from newspapers to tin foil, to paint.

Drawing has been the foundation of art for many centuries.

Behind many great works of art, whether it is abstract or realistic, lies a strong drawing.

This course is for beginners and for those wanting a refresher of the basics.

Through close observation, you will expand on your visual art skills. Students will be introduced to the basics of drawing and composition through a series of exercises and projects. The class will cover the fund.menials of drawing including perspective, describing form with light and shade, composition, various drawing materials and their uses.

Discussion led exercises will be practiced in each class.

Combining watercolour painting with ink line work for quick and effective small painting.

Suitable for beginners or those with experience. Record your world with these fun watercolour and ink sketches. These charming little paintings are quick and deceivingly easy to do as the ink line drawing forgives many errors in the watercolour painting. Useful for sketching on location or painting in the comfort of home or studio from photos you have taken. We will begin with choosing a good composition and some simple exercises in watercolour the first morning to understand how the paint works with water on paper. For the rest of the class we will be working on small paintings with ink embellishments for definition and effect. We will do landscape, buildings and subjects of your choice during the course, painting from my supplied photos or your own reference.

You have the basic skills and techniques of watercolour, especially a feeling of the proper ratio of water to paint. Now we can build on that. You will expand your skill to manage the medium while exploring its spontaneity. We will delve into glazing, layering. lifting, wet-into-wet, achieving values, control ling edges, adding shadows and shapes. Enjoy the process of painting smaller works to allow for more practice and develop skills. Lots of demos, guidance and encouragement so you can choose what you want to paint because you have acquired the mechanics of the medium!

This is a No Experience Necessary watercolour class. These 5 weeks are for those who have never painted, but always admired or been intimidated by those who do. We will work with small manageable paper sizes, and simple projects like greeting cards. Experimenting with the magic and mystery of letting water, paint and paper do all the work! Learn 'to •see" and "appreciate" the world through the painter's perspectives shadows and colour.

Bring what you have or you can purchase a complete beginner kit.

$60 paid to the instructor on the first day will cover most supplies.

This is an advanced and more in depth drawing class that allow students that have taken one of the basic drawing classes, or equivalent drawing classes to explore lhe more intricate paths of graphite drawing and composing. II will allow the more advanced artist an opportunity lo gain lhe visual and creative practice in drawing that will enhance any artistic endeavor. The class objective is lo improve the skills necessary lo draw with confidence and to develop within the student the ability to see the world the way an artist does.
