Historical, naturalistic representations of subjects, as well as stylized or idealized ones, offer Interesting challenges to artists. In this class you will learn how lo tackle the challenges of portraiture by utilizing a knowledge of anatomy and starting with effective drawings that consider lights and darks. Helpful critiques on your drawings will help you Improve your techniques and build your style.
This is a thorough workshop that will guide students through the execution of portraits in oil. This workshop will cover classical techniques and variety of tools used in oils, and will also provide insight into drawing and painting portraits from any angle. Importance on simplifying and massing primary and secondary shapes followed by contouring the form is explored. We will learn how to keep simplicity in colour palettes and light to dark value ranges. An information packed course with lots of take-home resources provided.
