2027 EXHIBITION APPLICATION
One of the ways that we fulfill our mandate of supporting artists at The Old School House Arts Centre is by offering exhibitions in a variety of mediums throughout the year, with shows that run approximately six to eight weeks in length.
We provide artists with exhibition space, we assist in installation, and we work with artists to advertise and promote the exhibition.
The commission on sales is 50% to the artist.
Applications are open for residents of the region (Vancouver Island and BC), all work must be delivered in person and cannot be shipped.
There is a nonrefundable administrative fee of $30 for applying
We offer three sizes of gallery spaces (see below for floor plans).
Gallery Spaces
Brown Gallery
The Brown Gallery has 64 running feet.
Dorothy Francis Gallery
The Dorothy Francis Gallery has 42 running feet.
Volunteer Gallery
The Volunteer Gallery has 35 running feet.
The deadline for the 2027 Exhibition Season is August 29, 2025
Entries are curated by the Executive Director, and artists will be informed of their successful application by November 2025.
Unsuccessful applications will not be contacted.
Exhibition proposals cannot be mailed or submitted in person.

A limited number of appointments will be made available with the ED for questions, please call to book.

Step 1: EMAIL Artwork Samples and Curriculum Vitae
Artwork Submission:
Submit five (5) clearly labeled images that represent the type of work you intend to exhibit. (See labeling instructions below.)
If you are applying as a group, include works from each artist or a representative selection of the group’s work.
File Naming & Format:
Rename all files to include your name before uploading.
Example: YourName_Title.jpg
Only JPEG or JPG file formats are accepted.

Use the subject line: Your Name – Exhibition Application
If you are providing a website link showcasing the work you wish to exhibit, you do not need to send image attachments—simply include the link and your CV in the email.
Originality & Copyright:
All submitted artwork must be the original creation of the artist.
AI-generated work will not be accepted.
Refer to the section below, "Information on Copyright for the Artist," for additional details.
Applications that do not follow these guidelines will not be considered.

**We deeply respect the cultural rights of Indigenous Peoples. It is requested that artists’ work be culturally appropriate in its content.
** Artists must ensure that their work does not infringe on any copyright. Artwork derived from the work of another artist is not permissible.
All artists should familiarize themselves with Canadian copyright laws. If you are still unsure whether or not your work would be eligible, please email our office well in advance of the submission deadline.
The Old School House Arts Center retains the right to remove any artwork from adjudication that may contravene copyright laws or show standards. The Old School House Arts Center also retains the right to refuse eligibility for any artist that has violated or not adhered to guidelines.
