2028 EXHIBITION APPLICATION

One of the ways that we fulfill our mandate of supporting artists at The Old School House Arts Centre is by offering exhibitions in a variety of mediums throughout the year, with shows that run approximately six to eight weeks in length.

We provide artists with exhibition space, we assist in installation, and we work with artists to advertise and promote the exhibition.

The commission on sales is 50% to the artist.

Applications are open for residents of the region (Vancouver Island and BC), all work must be delivered in person and cannot be shipped.

There is a nonrefundable administrative fee of $30 for applying

We offer three sizes of gallery spaces (see below for floor plans).

Volunteer Gallery

The Volunteer Gallery has 35 running feet.

The deadline for the 2028 Exhibition Season is December 18th , 2026

Entries are curated by the Executive Director, and artists will be informed of their successful application by February of 2027.

Unsuccessful applications will not be contacted.

Exhibition proposals cannot be mailed or submitted in person.

GUIDELINES

Presentation

All works must be exhibition ready. Framing is not required.

Cultural Respect

We deeply respect the cultural rights of Indigenous Peoples. Artists are asked to ensure their work is culturally appropriate in its content.

Copyright and Originality

Artists must ensure their work does not infringe on any copyright. Artwork copied or derived from the work of another artist is not permitted, including work created solely with the use of AI. Work in which AI tools were used as part of the creative process must be disclosed at the time of submission. All artists should familiarize themselves with Canadian copyright law. If you are unsure whether your work is eligible, please email our office well in advance of the submission deadline.

Right of Refusal The Old School House Arts Centre reserves the right to remove from adjudication any artwork that may contravene copyright law or show standards. The Old School House Arts Centre also reserves the right to refuse eligibility to any artist who has not adhered to these guidelines.
