ABOUT TOSH

FOR NEARLY 40 YEARS,

ART HAS BEEN IN SESSION

Since opening its doors as an arts centre in 1988, The Old School House Arts Centre has brought art, artists and the community together under one historic roof.

Today, TOSH is a vibrant cultural hub for Central Vancouver Island — a place to experience art, meet artists, learn something new, create and connect.

ART IS FOR EVERYONE — AND EVERYONE BELONGS

At The Old School House Arts Centre, we believe art is the heartbeat of our community—an act of service to ourselves and each other. It nourishes the soul, challenges perceptions, and invites beauty into the here and now. As the mid-Island hub for the arts, and leaders in innovation and collaboration, we’re here to help you make, understand, or acquire something that moves you. Led by our open-house philosophy, we welcome people from all walks of life into our studios, classrooms, galleries, and events. We exist to connect the curious and the creative across generations and artistic mediums, bringing the transformative power of art into everyday life.

OUR PURPOSE - ART ELEVATES LIFE!

Art has the power to enrich lives, create connection and strengthen the communities we call home.

OUR PROMISE - ART IS FOR EVERYONE. AND EVERYONE BELONGS.

We believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience, participate in and feel welcome here.

OUR MISSION

The mandate of The Old School House Arts Centre is to foster a vibrant arts centre that promotes and encourages the development of multi-dimensional artists and musicians for the enjoyment of all ages, residents and visitors alike, in Qualicum Beach and throughout Central Vancouver Island.

OUR HOUSE IS YOUR HOUSE

For nearly four decades, people have come through our doors to make, learn, exhibit, perform, gather, discover and connect. Whether you’re a creative, an artist or simply art-curious, there is a place for you here.

Come wander the halls.

“The arts have always been at the core of thriving communities.
They build bridges across difference,

create shared experiences, and anchor local identity.”

— Simon Brault, former Director and CEO, Canada Council for the Arts
