1) Have you had to adapt your studio/home/space to be more suitable to your practice during this time?
No, The studio doubles as an office or guest room as the case may be, so I just continue to use the space as is. Or spread out to the dining Room
2) Can you describe your daily/weekly art practice, anything that you do differently because your studio is in such proximity?
There is more time for art now that we are asked to self isolate so more opportunity to paint more and think about things that
I would like to try. It also gives me more time to work on self promotion in the arts field.
3) Has this time of self-isolation changed your practice in any way. I know a lot of artists are missing things (materials, space, etc). Has this time pushed you to be more creative or think outside the box in your practice and can you give us an example?
The self isolation has freed up some time to paint and experiment. I have tried a self portrait that started as a young person and then aged over top.
I think I will continue to experiment in this vein until I am satisfied with the results.
Materials may become a challenge but I do have some old oil paints that are not water soluble (hence the reason I haven't used them yet!} so if I cannot get what I think I need I will use those.
4) What is your favourite part about your home-studio?
The favorite part of my studio is dreaming of a dedicated space for just ART !
5) Do you have any goals of creativity for this time?
My personal goals are to grow and work outside of my comfort zone.
Try new ideas and not expect to be perfect. And to practise, practise, practise!!
6) Any messages you would like to share with everyone during this time?
I believe that we are experiencing something that is really rare and special in its own way.
An opportunity to really know who you are, what you find is the most precious to you. We have the time to enjoy the small things that we often forget in our busy lives.
I think there will be some really interesting innovations happening over the next year or so. We are all, every one of us, re-evaluating in some way and that will lead
us to find all sorts of new and exciting projects, ways of living and to work in a different way.
What is really exciting to see is how the earth can repair itself when it is given a breather! I hope that the biggest lesson we learn is to take care of our planet.
