Thomas ARNOLD CROSIER

Lifelong Creativity, Local Legacy

An End-of-Year Fundraising Exhibition at The Old School House Arts Centre

This winter, The Old School House Arts Centre (TOSH) is proud to launch our end-of-year fundraising with a very special exhibition: Lifelong Creativity, Local Legacy.

This unique show celebrates the enduring spirit of creativity in Qualicum Beach. Featuring original paintings—each priced at $100 or less—the exhibition captures the charm of our town: its shoreline, forest trails, heritage buildings, gardens, and beloved streetscapes. Every work is a tribute to the shared stories, skills, and memories that make this community extraordinary.

At the heart of this exhibition is the remarkable story of Thomas Arnold Crosier (1927–2015). Arnold began painting at the age of 75 in a TOSH acrylics class taught by Bill Townsend. His first practice work, painted on plywood, sparked a decade of creativity that produced more than 100 landscapes—each lovingly titled and signed on the back. Arnold and his wife Mary made Qualicum Beach their home many times throughout their lives and now rest in the local cemetery. His legacy reminds us that learning and creativity truly have no age limit.

Every purchase from Lifelong Creativity, Local Legacy helps sustain the exhibitions, classes, and community programs that keep the arts thriving in our region. These one-of-a-kind originals will go fast—so if you cherish the small-town magic of Qualicum Beach, now is the moment to bring home your favourite view and support local creativity in the process.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Jane Swintak and her family for the generous donation of Arnold Crosier’s works, which make this exhibition—and the continuation of his creative spirit—possible.

Visit, explore, and find the scene that speaks to you before it’s gone from the wall.
